Beside your medical team

With your written consent, Yvette can work beside your doctors

Illness and its treatment can pull your care in several directions. If you want, Yvette speaks with the person who coordinates yours, so that therapy and treatment are not working against each other. If you do not want that, she does not, and your therapy is the same.

Step by step

How it works

Nothing happens before you say so, and each step is yours to stop.

  1. 01

    Step 1: You say who

You tell Yvette which doctor, nurse or care coordinator you want her to speak with, if anyone.

  2. 02

Step 2: You sign a release

A written release names each person and what may be shared. It can be as little as the fact that you are in therapy.

  3. 03

Step 3: You agree what is said

Before anyone is contacted, you and Yvette agree what she will say. You can read anything she sends.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Contact is brief

A short call or letter. Yvette does not ask for your chart unless you want her to read part of it.

  5. 05

Step 5: You can end it

Tell Yvette at any time, in person or in writing. What was already shared cannot be taken back, but nothing more is sent.

What this is, and what it is not

  • What Yvette can do

    • Share that you are in therapy, and for how long

    • Say what helps you take part in treatment, such as shorter visits or a break

    • Hear what your care team needs to know about how you are doing

    • Help you rehearse a hard conversation with your doctor

  • What she cannot do

    • Change or question your treatment

    • Say whether a symptom is physical or emotional

    • Give medical advice

    • Speak with anyone you have not named in writing

Three questions about working with your care team

Do I have to let you talk to my doctors?

No. It is your choice, and it is not a condition of therapy. Many people never use it.

Will my doctors see my therapy notes?

No. Only what the release lists is shared, and by default that is brief. You decide what goes beyond it.

What if my doctor contacts you first?

Yvette will not confirm that you are a client, or say anything, until you have signed a release.

Write to Yvette to talk it through

You can ask about working with your medical team in your first message, and you do not need to name anyone yet.
