Questions

What people ask before they begin

If yours is not here, write and Yvette answers.

Do you take my insurance?

No. Sessions are self-pay. A monthly receipt lets you ask a plan that reimburses out-of-network care to pay part of it back. Medicare and Medicaid are not accepted.

What is a superbill, and how do I use it?

It is an itemized receipt with the dates and the kind of session. A plan that covers out-of-network care may reimburse part of it; the plan decides. It carries a diagnosis code, which your insurer will see.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a written estimate of your costs before care starts. You receive yours before the first session. If a bill comes to $400 or more above it, you can dispute the bill. An estimate is not a contract.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

The fee depends on the length of the session, and you receive it in writing before you start. The page on how fees work has the whole picture.

Can I use an HSA or FSA card?

Yes. Cards from a health savings or flexible spending account work like any other card.

What happens in the first session?

You and Yvette talk about what you want from therapy, how privacy works and what to do in a crisis. You decide afterward whether to continue.

How often and how long are sessions?

A standard session is 50 minutes. Yvette sets the pace with you, and there is no set number of sessions. A shorter session is available when a full one is too much.

Are you licensed where I live?

Yvette is licensed in Tennessee, and you must be in Tennessee during a session. If you are elsewhere, she helps you find someone licensed there.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site and its messages are not monitored around the clock.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

Yvette keeps your records private and shares them only as the law allows. Before you begin she explains the limits, in plain words.

Can you see my teen?

No. Yvette sees adults only. She is glad to help you find someone who works with teens.

What is your cancellation policy?

A session missed for a medical reason is never charged. For other changes, 24 hours' notice is asked. The schedule page has the details.

Will you talk to my doctors?

Only if you sign a written release naming each person and what may be shared. You can end it at any time.

Still wondering?

Write to Yvette, and say what you would like to know.
